Lennox mini-split installation in San Antonio typically runs $3,500 to $7,500 for a complete system, depending on the number of indoor heads, the size of the unit in BTUs, and how much line-set work your home requires. We keep a range of Lennox-compatible mounting hardware, line sets, and electrical components on our trucks, so most replacement and installation work can be scheduled within a few days. If a component on your existing Lennox mini-split has failed, the first sign is usually pretty obvious: the indoor unit stops blowing cold, the outdoor unit runs constantly or not at all, or you see water where it shouldn’t be. In San Antonio’s heat, a dead mini-split in a room over the garage or a converted sunroom becomes a problem fast.
Lennox makes several mini-split lines, and the installation requirements are not one-size-fits-all. We’ll get specific below.
Which Lennox Models This Applies To
Lennox currently builds mini-splits under the MLA, MPB, and MPA single-zone lines, plus the MWMA and M22 series for multi-zone applications. If you have a newer Lennox system, the model number is on a plate on the side of the outdoor condenser. Older units sold under the ComfortSense or SunSource branding are also Lennox-built, and parts compatibility varies by year. The indoor head will have its own model sticker behind the front cover, and the two numbers should match the same series. If they don’t, someone mixed equipment at some point, and that’s worth knowing before you buy anything.
When a mounting bracket, drain pan, blower wheel, or control board fails, the question every San Antonio homeowner wants answered is whether to buy the OEM Lennox part or a quality aftermarket equivalent. For electronic components (control boards, inverter boards, sensors), we generally recommend OEM. Lennox boards are calibrated to their specific inverter logic, and an aftermarket board can cause communication errors between the indoor and outdoor units. For mechanical parts like blower wheels, drain fittings, and mounting hardware, a quality aftermarket part often performs just as well and costs noticeably less. We’ll give you a straight answer on both options, with prices, before any work starts.

Signs Your Lennox Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- The indoor unit runs but blows warm air. This is usually a refrigerant leak in the line set or a failing inverter board in the outdoor unit. In San Antonio, a slow leak gets harder to hide once outdoor temps climb past 95 degrees.
- Water dripping from the indoor head. The drain pan or the condensate line is clogged or cracked. This is one of the most common failures we see in older Lennox mini-splits, especially in rooms that stay humid from pool access or laundry.
- The outdoor unit short-cycles or runs continuously. Often a failing capacitor or a refrigerant charge issue. With inverter-driven Lennox units, the compressor is designed to ramp up and down; when it starts hard-stopping, the electronics are usually struggling.
- You smell a faint burning or musty odor from the indoor head. A dirty or failing blower wheel can overheat the motor, and trapped moisture in the drain pan breeds the musty smell. Both are warning signs that a cheap fix is about to become an expensive swap.
- The remote or wall controller loses connection or shows error codes. Lennox mini-splits are sensitive to communication voltage drops. A failing IR receiver or a control board on its way out will show intermittent errors that drive homeowners crazy.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full Lennox mini-split installation for one indoor head in San Antonio runs $3,500 to $7,500. That includes the outdoor condenser, the indoor air handler, the line set, electrical connections, a mounting bracket or pad, and the refrigerant charge. If you’re replacing a failed component rather than a whole system, the cost drops significantly. Common component replacements:
- Indoor blower wheel: $150 – $400 installed
- Drain pan replacement: $120 – $350 installed
- Capacitor or control board: $150 – $650 installed
- Line set repair and refrigerant recharge: $250 – $650 installed
These are installed prices, not just parts. Every job gets a written quote before work starts, and every repair carries a written guarantee. If it fails within the coverage window, we come back at no charge. That’s the whole point of putting it in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things a homeowner can safely check on a Lennox mini-split: make sure the filter is clean, confirm the breaker hasn’t tripped, and clear any leaves or debris from around the outdoor condenser. That’s about the end of the safe list. Mini-splits run on high-voltage electricity and pressurized refrigerant. A mistake with either one can cause serious injury or turn a $200 repair into a $2,000 problem. Refrigerant lines operate under pressure, and the electrical connections inside the outdoor unit carry enough current to stop a heart. We don’t publish DIY instructions for those components. If your Lennox mini-split is acting up, call (903) 623-6784 and tell us what it’s doing. We’ll tell you what we think it is, what it’ll cost to fix, and when we can be there. Straight answer, written price, no runaround.
FAQs
Most single-zone Lennox mini-split installations take four to six hours from start to finish, including the pad or bracket, the line set, electrical hookup, and refrigerant charge. If we’re replacing an existing system and the line set and electrical are still good, it often goes faster.
Yes, most component failures can be repaired. In San Antonio, we typically only recommend full replacement when the compressor has failed, the line set has multiple leaks, or the system is old enough that repair costs start stacking up against the price of a new unit.
We stock common items like capacitors, control boards, drain pans, and blower wheels for the Lennox mini-split lines most common in San Antonio. Oddball parts or OEM inverter boards not in stock are usually available within one to three business days.
In San Antonio’s heat, a well-installed Lennox mini-split typically lasts 12 to 18 years. Units that run hard through 100-degree summers will often see component failures in the 8-to-10 year range, but those are usually repairable without replacing the whole system.
